50 Best Companies to work for is Report on Business magazine's third annual ranking of Canada’s top employers by Hewitt Associates.
Canadian Corporate News Search for news releases about both public companies and non-public organizations by either keyword or company name. Or just browse the day's/week's releases to see who's in the news.
Canadian Annual Reports This free service contains listings, sorted by industry or alphabetically by company, of Annual Reports for hundreds of Canadian companies. You can order paper versions of the reports sent in the mail. Increasing numbers of reports are also available directly from the web site as PDF files. There is no charge for either service.
Public Company Snapshot, part of the GlobeInvestor site, allows you to input all or part of a company name and get an overview of the company's business and critical numbers.
NEW! Associations Canada contains over 19,000 listings of Canadian associations and selected foreign associations active in Canada or of interest to Canadians it is a powerful fact-finder to business, trade, professional and consumer organizations.
Sheridan account holders can access a wealth of online research resources by logging into their Portal and looking in the Sheridan Library box. Of particular use for occupational, company and career research are the following resources:
Scott's Directory is an online source of information on Canadian manufacturers, distributors and business service providers. The URL is www.scottsinfo.com. The library has an on-site license for three concurrent users -- this database cannot be accessed from home. For user ID and password information, please contact the Davis or Trafalgar Libraries (x5280, x5281 at Davis; x2495, x2484 at Trafalgar).
Cancorp Financials gives company history, ownership data, financials and stock performance for more than 8,000 Canadian public and crown corporations. This product will replace our subscription to Financial Post Reports and Profile. We have had unresolved technical difficulty getting remote access to Financial Post since we started our subscription. CANCORP FINANCIALS can be accessed through the Library's online services web page or the portal.

We subscribe to Career Cruising, a Canadian career exploration product that features profiles on over 450 different occupations, multimedia interviews with real people in each of those occupations, tools which can help you find careers that suit your interests, and a database of post-secondary programs. There are two ways to access it:

NOC Occupational Descriptions. The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is Canada's official career dictionary. This site contains information on the main duties, education and experience requirements, and related occupations, for an index of over 29,000 different job titles. Click on "Index of Titles" for an alphabetical list or click on "occupational descriptions" to browse by category.
NEW NOC Career Handbook. The Career Handbook is a detailed version of the NOC Occupational Descriptions, including coded information on interests, aptitudes, data/people/things, physical activities, environmental conditions, and education/training. While primarily intended for professional reference by Career Development Practitioners, the Career Handbook search function is useful for people who have completed related career tests such as the Canadian Work Preference Inventory.
Occupational Profiles Information, indexed alphabetically or clustered into broad career sectors, on over 500 different job titles details: duties, working conditions, skills required, education & training, employment, salary, NOC code, and relevant associations/organizations to contact for more information. Newly updated, with advanced search options.
AboutMyJob.Com is a searchable collection of job stories detailing how people feel about their job and career choices. Keep in mind that these are personal reflections but the site is a great way to help you understand an occupation beyond the objective facts you find on other sites.
SalaryExpert.Com provides comprehensive salary data reports on hundreds of occupations in the U.S. and Canada. Ontario data can be reported combined or by region (Hamilton, London, Toronto, etc.). You may have to complete a quick survey before it gives you the report but it is free!
Wages & Salaries across Canada. This page allows you to search the HRDC site by keyword and province for wage and salary data.
National Canadian Association of Skilled Trades (NCAST) is a grass root, not for profit organization, which received its letters patent in May 2003. NCAST is dedicated to the development and advancement of all skilled trades within Canada.

Graduate Outlooks Job Futures allows you to look up hundreds of different fields of study and get national statistics on outlook, wages, employment sectors, program satisfaction, and much more.
